QR Codes – The Latest and Greatest Marketing Tool

QR is an abbreviation for Quick Response. It is a two-dimensional code easily readable and accessible similar to a bar code however this code can be read anywhere provided you have the scanner. QR codes are designed to contain information such as text or a website URL and works like a hyperlink so that once photographed even with a camera phone, you can access information right away.
QR codes are relatively new to the technology scene but I think we will see them become commonplace as we move more solidly into a mobile-wired world.
How can QR codes help in marketing?
A simple QR code stores information for easy and fast access. It might contain an ad or information about a company or product. It can have phone numbers that can be dialled when scanned by your mobile phone. It can even give access to the web just after being scanned. In a nutshell, it provides information that the company perceives to be needed by their potential consumers or clients.
Companies use QR codes in a variety of ways – billboards, magazines, store displays, business cards and a whole lot more. People want easy access and with the use of QR codes businesses can reach their prospects even better and faster. This can generate a lot of customers and allows for quicker ROI.
They are still in the early adopter stage but many experts are saying that they will become so commonplace that we will each have our own unique code, ending the need for usernames and passwords forever.
